Custom-Made Rifle and Accoutrements
Offered by Gunmakers Hall of the NMLRA
A new year is upon us and with it, Gunmakers Hall Committee is again proud to offer to the readers of Muzzle Blasts Online the opportunity to win our 1997 prize line-up. First, let's review and congratulate last years winners: the rifle was won by Jerry Kunkel of Neosho, Missouri; the horn and hunting pouch went to Billy Watson of Deatsville, Alabama; and the shooting box went to David Rase of Bremerton, Washington. A sincere thanks to everyone who gave donations last year.
This year we will again be giving multiple prizes to the lucky persons whose tickets are drawn.
First place winner will receive a handcrafted contemporary Early Virginia-(possibly 1740's period) styled rifle by renowned maker Mark Silver, from Chassell, Michigan. This rifle features elaborate raised carving, engraving on all mounts, sterling silver wire inlay, with traditional finishing techniques such as scraping on stock surfaces (no sandpaper), acid stain with oil and beeswax finish, and metal parts polished by burnishing.
Second place winner will acquire a European-influenced hunting pouch with deer dew claws incorporated into the flap design, made by Craig Fisher of Rochester, Indiana. Also there is a traditional mid-eighteenth century period engraved powder horn made by Mark Fairchild from Hattisburg, Mississippi, combined with a woven horn strap by Doug Lee from Huntsville, Alabama.
Third place winner will take home a hand-forged longknife with a seven-and-a-half inch blade mounted with an antiqued deer antler handle, produced by John Hanson of Fox Hallow Forge in Morris, Illinois, accompanied by a hand sewn leather belt sheath by Ehrin Ehlert of Duck River, Tennessee.
New this year, the fourth place winner will receive a curly maple shooter's box lined with pillow ticking and mounted with antiqued iron hardware crafted by Steve Emminger of Red Rooster Trading Company in North Vernon, Indiana.
As you can see, with the outstanding contributions of these craftsmen, Gunmakers Hall is providing you an overwhelming value for your greatly appreciated donation. With your continued financial support, our goals for the educational building fund are closer to becoming a reality.
On page 38 of the May issue of Muzzle Blasts you will find 12 tickets for your use. You may use these or photocopy the page (please do not enlarge or reduce) and fill in the information on as many tickets as you desire. Tickets can be obtained free of charge but we would appreciate a donation of $2.00 per ticket or three tickets for $5.00 with no limit in these increments. The drawing for this exceptional rifle and spectacular accoutrements will be September 20, 1997 on the back porch of Gunmakers Hall at Friendship. You do not have to be present to win.
Please send tickets and donations to Ron Ehlert, Rifle Giveaway Chairman, 1066 New Sheboss Road, Duck River, Tennessee 38454. This offer not valid where prohibited by law. Thank you in advance for your support.
